Un-isdr2 December 2009: The UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN/ISDR), in partnership with the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, convened the International Roundtable of Parliamentarians on Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation in Malta, on 24 November 2009, which adopted the Malta Declaration of the Commitment of Parliamentarians to COP15 and Beyond.

Event: First meeting of the UNECE Ad Hoc Group of Experts of the Global Energy Efficiency 21 Project [viewed]

This meeting will be the first of an Ad Hoc Group of Experts in the framework of the project “Global Energy Efficiency 21 (GEE21): Cooperation between the UN Regional Commissions on Energy Efficiency for Climate Change Mitigation,” which is carried out under the aegis of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). The project aims at promoting the formation of a market for energy efficiency in 12 Eastern European, South-eastern European and Central Asian countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Council members representing 32 constituencies (16 from developing countries, 14 from developed countries, and two from countries with transitional economies) will be represented. Multilateral Development Banks, IMF Call for Comprehensive Global Climate Change Regime [viewed]

2 December 2009: The Heads of the Multilateral Development Banks and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) appealed in a joint statement to the parties to the UNFCCC to agree in Copenhagen on the foundations for an ambitious, comprehensive and equitable global climate change regime that enables all countries to achieve sustainable development along climate-resilient and low greenhouse gas emission-intensive paths.

UN Secretary-General Stresses that Women Are Major Agents for Progress on Climate Change [viewed]
