Event: Seventh African Development Forum on Climate Change and Development [viewed]

The Seventh African Development Forum (ADF VII) on Climate Change and Development is being convened by the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Development Bank (AfDB). The overall objective of the Forum is to raise awareness and mobilize effective commitment and actions on the part of all stakeholders and partners at all levels to effectively mainstream climate change concerns into development policies, strategies, programmes and practices in Africa. The Forum also aims to strengthen Africa's participation in international climate change negotiations with a view to ensuring adequate reflection of the continent's concerns and priorities in a post-2012 international climate change regime.

The meeting brings together representatives from 182 countries and will include the 32nd sessions of the Subsidiary Bodies of the UNFCCC, the tenth session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA 10) and the 12th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP 12).

Global Climate Change Alliance Regional Conference for Asia Held [viewed]

The regional conference took stock of challenges posed by climate change in Asia, focusing on vulnerable countries' specific problems, strategies and response actions, existing financial mechanisms and prospects for reaching an effective global agreement on climate change.
