Event: African Partnership Forum Special Session on Climate Change [viewed]
The African Partnership Forum (APF) special session on climate change, which is scheduled for 3 September 2009, in Addis Ababa, will focus on Africa's concerns and expectations in the negotiations on a new post-Kyoto agreement on climate change. The meeting is organized by the African Union (AU) Commission, the NEPAD Secretariat, the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD). The objective of the special session is to mobilize a broad support for Africa's position on climate change to ensure that its concerns are reflected in the outcomes of the fifteenth Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP15 UNFCCC), taking place in December in Copenhagen.
19 August 2009: The Property Working Group of the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) has launched a toolkit to help investors better understand and apply the principles of Responsible Property Investment (RPI). 
18 August 2009: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has announced that it will partner with Canada's Polar Cap Productions to present a climate change documentary, titled “The Antarctica Challenge: A Global Warning,” in Copenhagen during the December climate change negotiations. 
17 August 2009: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has launched a new climate change web site. The “UNDP Climate Community” (UNDPCC) offers information on topics including the economic and policy implications of climate change, and analyses of the negotiations. 
17 August 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released a number of documents reflecting work done under the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (AWG-LCA) revised negotiating text (FCCC/AWGLCA/2009/INF.1), during the August intersessional informal consultations in Bonn. 
17 August 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a technical paper, entitled “Cost of implementing methodologies and monitoring systems relating to estimates of emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, the assessment of carbon stocks and greenhouse gas emissions from changes in forest cover, and the enhancement of forest carbon stocks” (FCCC/TP/2009/1), on the REDD information sharing web platform. 
August 2009: The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) has released a Water Policy Brief addressing “Flexible Water Storage Options and Adaptation to Climate Change.”
17 August 2009: The largest-ever youth gathering on climate change opened in Daejeon, Republic of Korea, on 17 August 2009, and will conclude on 23 August. 
14 August 2009: The Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA) and the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP) held intersessional informal consultations in Bonn, Germany, from 10-14 August 2009 (also referred to as Bonn III).
