Event: VIRTUAL International Symposium on ICTs and Climate Change [viewed]
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is co-organizing, with the Korea Communications Commission (KCC), the 1st VIRTUAL International Symposium on ICTs and Climate Change. The symposium will bring together, in a virtual environment, key specialists in the field to discuss topics including: green ICTs to tackle climate change, clean technologies and smart applications, reducing the environmental impact of ICTs, and building a green future.
1 September 2009: The UN has launched a report on “The World Economic and Social Survey 2009: Promoting Development, Saving the Planet,” which calls for integrated policy responses to development and climate challenges. 
31 August 2009: The World Climate Conference-3 (WCC-3), organized by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), opened in Geneva, Switzerland, on 31 August 2009, under the theme “Climate prediction and information for decision-making.” 
31 August 2009: Government officials from across South-East Asia have gathered in western Thailand for a six-day UN seminar on how countries can implement low-carbon strategies that will also boost economic growth. 
28 August 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a report prepared by Croatia to facilitate the calculation of the party's assigned amount pursuant to Article 3, paragraphs 7 and 8, of the Kyoto Protocol, and to demonstrate its capacity to account for emissions and the assigned amount (FCCC/IRR/2008/HRV). 
28 August 2009: The UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (UN-REDD Programme) has published its first newsletter.
