28 March 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released a report to support the Subsidiary Body for Implementation's (SBI) annual monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the framework for capacity-building in developing countries.
During this meeting, members of the Executive Committee for the Multilateral Fund (MLF) will discuss, among other issues: status of contributions and disbursements; the MLF 2013-2015 business plan; programme implementation; project proposals; and the recruitment process for the new Chief Officer of the MLF.
The workshop, convened by the World Bank, the UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (UN-REDD) and the Commission des Forets d'Afrique Centrale (COMIFAC), is to take stock of the scientific work in Central Africa on the assessment of carbon stocks. The workshop will have a particular focus on allometric equations in the context of REDD+.
2 April 2013: The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has announced the launch of the International Blue Carbon Initiative's new website.
March 2013: The International Labour Organization (ILO) has released a paper, titled “Sustainable development, decent work and green jobs,” which is to be discussed at the June 2013 session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland.
30 March 2013: An expert meeting on technology roadmaps (TRMs) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Technology Executive Committee (TEC) took place on 25 March 2013, in Bonn, Germany, immediately preceding the fifth meeting of the TEC, which was held on 26-27 March 2013, at the same venue.
28 March 2013: The UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (UN-REDD) has released the February-March edition of its newsletter, highlighting activities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Indonesia, Pakistan, Panama, Solomon Islands and Tanzania.
27 March 2013: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Bank held a design workshop to develop a Climate Finance Options (CFO) Platform for Viet Nam (CFO-CN) in Hanoi, Viet Nam. This knowledge platform is expected to facilitate increased collaboration on, and discussion of, climate finance in Viet Nam.
27 March 2013: Two recent meetings of the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF), its Sixth Meeting of the Carbon Fund Participants (CF6, 15-16 March) and its 14th Meeting of the Participants Committee (PC14, 19-21 March 2013), have discussed updates on emissions reductions programmes and considered presentations on REDD+ readiness from a number of countries.
27 March 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the budget programme for the biennium 2014-15 for consideration by the 38th session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI 38) to be held in June 2013. The document (FCCC/SBI/2013/6) presents the human and financial resources to implement the UNFCCC Secretariat's work programme, including the details on the approach to frame the budget proposal.
