WorldFish Center Holds Workshop on Adaptation and West African Fisheries

19 May 2010: WorldFish Center, a member of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), hosted a workshop on "Envisioning 2050: Climate Change, Aquaculture and Fisheries in West Africa," in Dakar, Senegal, from 14-16 April 2010, with attendance by experts from Ghana, Mauritania and Senegal.

In response to the impact of climate change on fisheries resources, the group agreed on the need for coupled climate/fisheries scenario tools to help policy makers develop appropriate strategies. Participants also discussed the importance of coordination in sharing science, managing water resources and developing new aquaculture opportunities.
