World Bank Funds Energy Efficiency in Moldova

World Bank Approves US $10 Million in Additional Financing for Moldova's Energy II Project

29 January 2009: The World Bank approved a US$10 million credit for Moldova to scale-up heating supply and improve the efficiency of heating services in the country.

These funds will build on an existing project that has been effective in reducing greenhouse gas emissions with the switch from oil or coal to gas, and generates income for municipalities through carbon credits (about US$10,000 per municipality), allowing public hospitals to keep lights on and rooms warm.
