World Bank Climate Change Envoy Appointed Next WRI President

14 March 2012: The World Resources Institute (WRI) has announced that Andrew Steer has been appointed as its next President. He will leave his current post as Special Envoy for Climate Change at the World Bank, as well as co-chair of the Strategic Climate Change Fund, for the new position.

Steer's appointment comes as the Institute celebrates its 30th anniversary. He brings his experience as an international negotiator and coordinator in international climate change activities. He also serves on the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's High Level Group on Sustainable Energy for All, and on the B20 Board on Green Growth. In this new position, Steer will address global environmental and human development challenges. Steer will begin his tenure as WRI President in August 2012. [WRI Press Release]
