World Bank Approves Indonesian Climate Change Project
25 May 2010: The World Bank's Board of Executive Directors approved an International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) loan ofUS$200 million to support the Indonesian Government's policy agenda on climate change.
The project is based on the recognition that Indonesia is highly vulnerable to climate change impacts, which threaten to jeopardize past development gains and poverty alleviation efforts. The project aims to: increase adaptive ability; build community resilience; and increase preparedness for managing disasters. [World Bank Press Release]
