World Bank Approves Electricity Efficiency Project in Ghana

29 June 2010: The World Bank's Board of Executive Directors approved an International Development Assistance (IDA) credit of US$70 million equivalent for a project in Ghana aimed at improving the operational efficiency of the electricity distribution system and increasing the population's access to electricity.

The project will also help Ghana transition to a low-carbon economy through the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. [World Bank Press Release] [Project Website]
