WMO Contributes to Extreme Weather Preparation in Pakistan
31 August 2011: Pakistan's Representative to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) noted that while individual events cannot be attributed to climate change, trends over the past two decades indicate a linkage.
He described the exceedingly high levels of rain over August and September and the preceding drought. These floods have allowed Pakistan to test the PMD's Integrated Flood Management Plan developed with the WMO, as well as a Flash Flood Guidance System, which emerged from a WMO Expert Mission.
