WMO Announces Symposium on International Polar Year

25 March 2009: The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has announced that the US National Academy of Sciences and the National Science Foundation will co-host a symposium that highlights the early accomplishments of the International Polar Year.

The event will take place on 6 April 2009, in Washington, DC, US, and will address the following topics: a systems view of climate change in the northern and southern hemispheres; ice sheet stability and global sea level; responses to sea ice in transition; and Antarctic ecosystems and climate change.
