Equator Initiative selects winners for global biodiversity conservation Prize

1 October 2008: The UN-backed Equator Initiative has

announced the 25 winners of the Equator Prize 2008, which recognizes

exceptional leadership in slashing poverty through conservation and sustainable

biodiversity efforts.

In addition, projects in each of the three geographical

regions (Africa, Asia and the Pacific, and Latin America and the Caribbean)

will receive special recognition for exemplifying community approaches to
