UNW-DPAC Publishes Review of UN Publications on Water
September 2012: The UN-Water Decade Programme on Advocacy and Communication (UNW-DPAC) published its bimonthly publications review, highlighting UN publications on water from June, July and August that address a variety of issues, including green accounting and sustainable development, water and food security, and water security.
The UNW-DPAC Bimonthly Publications Review provides brief overviews of 32 publications from many UN programmes including the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), UN Global Compact, UN World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP), UNESCO-Institute for Water Education (IHE), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), and the UN Development Programme (UNDP), among others. The review also includes international financial institutions such as the World Bank and Asian Development Bank.
Among the cross-cutting issues addressed by the publications reviewed are: climate change adaptation; corporate water stewardship; carbon and water footprints; water scarcity and water security; agriculture and food security; early warning systems, risk management and disaster risk reduction; chemicals management; urban water management; sanitation; green accounting; water security; water statistics; sanitation; and progress on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
