UNITAR Workshop Strengthens Thailand’s Green Diplomacy Capacity

9 September 2011: The UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand organized a workshop on multilateral and green diplomacy aimed to strengthen Thai Government's capacity to engage in climate change negotiations in the lead-up to the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), to be held in Durban, South Africa, at the end of 2011.

The workshop, which took place from 5-9 September 2011, in Cha-Am, Thailand, focused on negotiation and conference diplomacy and the specific challenges of international environmental and climate change negotiations. It aimed to build participants' skills in negotiation, decision-making, advocacy and risk management to facilitate Thailand's diplomatic engagement in climate change and environmental negotiations.
