UNIDO Invites Applications to its 2011 Bluesky Award
22 August 2011: This year's Bluesky Award, sponsored by UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and organized by the Shenzhen International Technology Promotion Center for Sustainable Development (ITPC), will focus on the application of new technologies for renewable energy use.
UNIDO is calling for applications in the fields of renewable energy use, including the use of solar, wind, hydro, biomass, geothermal, ocean, and hydrogen energies, as well as energy savings. The goal of the Award is to promote the industrialized use of renewable energy in developing countries.
Applications will have to show that the technology proposed could greatly reduce the cost for renewable energy development and that it has the potential for successful commercial application. The winning technologies will be promoted through websites, newsletters, publications and meetings of UNIDO network globally. The deadline for submission of applications is 31 October 2011, and the Awards ceremony will be held on 18 November 2011, in Shenzhen during the China Hi-tech Fair. [UNIDO Press Release]
