UNIDO-Backed Hydrogen Energy Centre Initiates Hydrogen Fueling Station
14 January 2011: The International Centre for Hydrogen Energy Technologies (ICHET) has awarded Hydrogenics Corporation, a developer and manufacturer of hydrogen generation and fuel cell products, a contract to build a complete electrolysis-based hydrogen fueling station in Turkey.
The ICHET was established in 2004, is located in Istanbul, Turkey, and aims to initiate projects in the developing world that establish or enhance hydrogen production from indigenous, preferably renewable, energy resources. It is supported by the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. The fueling station, which will be located at the Golden Horn in Istanbul, is intended to have the capacity to produce 65 kilograms of hydrogen per day and will be used for both land and sea transportation applications.
