28 April 2009: The UNFCC Secretariat has received a number of submissions from parties, dating from 7 April, on negotiating text for consideration at the sixth session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the UNFCCC (AWG-LCA 6), which will convene from 1-12 June 2009, in Bonn, Germany, in conjunction with the 30th session of the UNFCCC subsidiary bodies and the eighth session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP 8).
Submissions relating to a shared vision for long-term cooperative action and the building blocks of mitigation, adaptation, finance and technology have also been received. Several submissions also relate to REDD. Other submissions refer to, inter alia: a low carbon development road map; a decision on a programme of work on opportunities for rapid climate mitigation to complement long-term climate stabilization; a crediting mechanism for nationally appropriate mitigation actions by the parties not included in Annex I of the UNFCCC; and potential to switch to alternative energies. A joint submission on possible quantified emissions limitation and reduction objectives is made to the AWG-LCA and the AWG-KP. [The submissions]
