UNFCCC SBSTA 40 Report Published

UNFCCC18 July 2014: The Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has published the report of its 40th session, which convened in Bonn, Germany, from 4-15 June 2014.

The report includes sections on, inter alia: the Nairobi work programme on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation; development and transfer of technologies and implementation of the Technology Mechanism; methodological guidance for activities relating to reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, and the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks in developing countries (REDD+); agriculture; the Warsaw international mechanism for loss and damage associated with climate change impacts; response measures; methodological issues under the Convention and the Kyoto Protocol; market and non-market mechanisms under the Convention; and the work programme on clarification of quantified economy-wide emission reduction targets of developed countries.

The report also includes an addendum containing a draft decision on the joint annual report of the Technology Executive Committee (TEC) and the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) for 2013 forwarded for consideration and adoption by the Conference of the Parties (COP) to be held in Lima, Peru, from 1-12 December 2014.
