UNFCCC SBI 40 Report Published
18 July 2014: The Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has published the report on its 40th session held in Bonn, Germany, from 4-15 June 2014.
The report includes sections on, inter alia: reporting and review of developed and developing countries; work programme to further the understanding of the diversity of nationally appropriate mitigation actions (NAMAs); matters relating to the mechanisms under the Kyoto Protocol; matters relating to the least developed countries (LDCs); national adaptation plans (NAPs); and Warsaw international mechanism for loss and damage associated with climate change impacts.
The report includes an addendum containing draft decisions forwarded for consideration and adoption by the Conference of the Parties (COP) and the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP) to be held in Lima, Peru, from 1-12 December 2014. There are three draft COP decisions: joint annual report of the Technology Executive Committee (TEC) and the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) for 2013; revisions to the financial procedures for the COP, its subsidiary bodies and the Secretariat; and parties included in Annex I to the Convention whose special circumstances are recognized by the COP. The two draft CMP decisions focus on: synergy relating to accreditation under the mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol; and date of the completion of the expert review process under the Kyoto Protocol for the first commitment period.
