UNFCCC Releases Views on the New Market-based Mechanism
11 April 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released 12 submission from Parties containing their views on the various approaches, including opportunities for using markets, to enhance the cost-effectiveness of, and to promote, mitigation actions, bearing in mind different circumstances of developed and developing countries (FCCC/AWGLCA/2012/MISC.6).
The submissions are from: Bangladesh, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Congo, Costa Rica, CĂ´te d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Fiji, Gabon, Ghana, Guyana, Honduras, Kenya, Pakistan, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Suriname and Uganda; China; Denmark and the European Commission on behalf of the EU; Ecuador; the Gambia, on behalf of the least developed countries (LDCs); Japan; Nauru, on behalf of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS); New Zealand; Norway; Saudi Arabia; Switzerland; and the US.
The submissions will be considered by the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA) at its 15th session, which will take place in Bonn, Germany, from 15-24 May 2012. [The Submissions on the New Market-based Mechanism]
