UNFCCC Releases Review of Lithuania’s GHG Inventory
13 April 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the report of the individual review of the annual submission of Lithuania submitted in 2011 (FCCC/ARR/2011/LTU).
The report indicates that the expert review team (ERT) found that Lithuania's 2011 greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory is generally in line with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Revised 1996 Guidelines for National GHG Inventories, the IPCC Good Practice Guidance and Uncertainty Management in National GHG Inventories, and the IPCC Good Practice Guidance for Land Use, Land-Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF). However, it notes that Lithuania's reporting is not fully in line with the IPCC good practice guidance regarding collection of activity data, methodological choices, and time-series consistency. The ERT concluded that the 2011 inventory submission shows significant improvement since the previous annual submission, but identified a need for further improvements regarding completeness and transparency.
