UNFCCC Releases Parties’ Views on Implications of Decisions for the Kyoto Protocol
16 April 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released a miscellaneous document containing submissions by five parties on implications of the implementation of decisions 2/CMP.7 to 4/CMP.7 and 1/CMP.8 (amendment to the Kyoto Protocol) on the relevant decisions adopted for the Kyoto Protocol first commitment period and for the reporting of land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) activities for the Protocol's second commitment period.
Submissions addressing implications of implementation of decisions 2/CMP.7 (LULUCF), 3/CMP.7 (emissions trading and the project-based mechanisms), 4/CMP.7 (various methodological issues) and 1/CMP.8 were received from Australia, Ireland and the European Commission for the EU, Japan, New Zealand and Norway.
Submissions were presented upon an invitation to parties made by the 8th session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 8) to submit their views on, and proposals or elements of, proposals to address the implications of the implementation of decisions 2-4/CMP.7 and decision 1/CMP.8 on the relevant decisions adopted for the first commitment period and on any supplementary reporting tables required for LULUCF reporting under Article 3, paragraphs 3 and 4, of the Kyoto Protocol for the second commitment period.
