UNFCCC Releases GEF Report on Poznan Strategic Programme on Technology Transfer

14 May 2010: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a report (FCCC/SBI/2010/4) of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) on progress made in carrying out the Poznan strategic programme on technology transfer.

The GEF was tasked with: promptly initiating and expeditiously facilitating the preparation of projects for approval and implementation under the strategic programme; collaborating with the GEF Agencies in order to provide technical support to developing countries in preparing or updating their technology needs assessments; and considering the long-term implementation of the strategic programme.

Conference of the Parties (COP) decision 2/CP.14 on development and transfer of technologies requested the GEF to report to the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 16) on the progress made in carrying out the requested activities and to provide interim reports to the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) at its 30th and 31st sessions. The conclusions of SBI 31 invited the GEF to provide a report on the progress made on the implementation of this programme at SBI 32, to be held from 31 May-9 June 2010, in Bonn, Germany. This progress report covers the period of November 2009 to March 2010, and includes long-term aspects of the Poznan Strategic Programme.
