UNFCCC Releases COP 17 Report

15 March 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the report of the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UNFCCC, held in Durban, South Africa, from 28 November - 11 December 2011.

The first part of the report consists of the proceedings of the session (FCCC/CP/2011/9). The second part outlines the action taken by COP 17, namely the decisions adopted by the parties, which are split into two addenda to the report (FCCC/CP/2011/9/Add.1) and (FCCC/CP/2011/9/Add.2). COP 17 concluded with the adoption of the "Durban Platform," a set of decisions that lay the ground for adopting a legal agreement on climate change as soon as possible, and no later than 2015. Work on this future agreement will be carried out under a new group called the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action.
