UNFCCC Publishes Views from Brazil, Japan and Malaysia on REDD+
8 May 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released an addendum to document FCCC/SB/2013/MISC.3, containing the views from three countries on issues related to activities described in paragraph 70 of decision 1/CP.16 (REDD+). The submissions are from Brazil, Japan and Malaysia.
Parties' views were submitted upon a request by the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) for parties to present submissions on the need to improve the coordination of support for the implementation of REDD+ activities, including financial resources, and technical and technological support, and to consider "institutional arrangements or potential governance alternatives including a body, a board or a committee."
Parties are expected to continue addressing these issues during discussions to be held under the item on "coordination of support for the implementation of activities in relation to mitigation actions in the forest sector by developing countries, including institutional arrangements," which is included in the provisional agenda of the 38th session of the subsidiary bodies (SBs 38) to be held from 3-14 June 2013, in Bonn, Germany.
