UNFCCC Publishes UNFPA and WHO AWG-LCA Submissions
28 November 2010: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published two submissions (FCCC/AWGLCA/2010/MISC.9/Add.1) from the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA).
The submissions will be considered by the AWG-LCA under its agenda item on the preparation of an outcome to be presented to the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 16) for adoption to enable the full, effective and sustained implementation of the Convention through long-term cooperative action now, up to and beyond 2012. The UNFPA submission relates to the linkages between climate change and population dynamics. It addresses the critical role of population dynamics and data in assessing climate change vulnerability and enhancing adaptation. The WHO submission presents COP 16-related outcomes of a high-level meeting on the impacts of climate change on human health. The meeting brought together country representatives of the WHO's South-East Asian region (SEAR) in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from 19-21 October 2010. [The Submissions]
