UNFCCC Publishes SBI Documents for Warsaw
24 October 2013: The UNFCCC has released documents for consideration during the upcoming Climate Change Conference in Warsaw, Poland, from 11-22 November 2013. The documents will be addressed under the agenda of the 39th session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI 39).
The national greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory data for the period 1990-2011 (FCCC/SBI/2013/19) contains information on the 43 Annex I parties' 2013 GHG inventory common reporting format (CRF), tables and national inventory reports (NIRs). It also states that, in the relevant period, total aggregate GHG emissions excluding emissions and removals from land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) for all Annex I parties decreased by 9.3 per cent, while total GHG emissions and removals including LULUCF decreased by 14.5 per cent.
The annual report of the administrator of the international transaction log under the Kyoto Protocol (FCCC/SBI/2013/INF.16) addresses activities of the ITL administrator from November 2012 to September 2013 and contains information on transactions of Kyoto Protocol units.
The progress report on the Consultative Group of Experts on National Communications from non-Annex I parties (CGE), Part II (FCCC/SBI/2013/17) summarizes the outcomes of the discussions of the CGE at its 10th meeting and includes recommendations that could be useful for improving the effectiveness of the provision of technical assistance to non-Annex I parties for the preparation of their national communications.
The CGE's progress report on the global training workshop on the preparation of biennial update reports (BUR) (FCCC/SBI/2013/18) summarizes the proceedings of the relevant workshop and includes summaries of the technical sessions and discussions.
