UNFCCC Publishes Estonia’s Fifth National Communication Report Review

UNFCCC24 August 2011: The UNFCCC has published the report (FCCC/IDR.5/EST) of the in-depth review of the fifth national communication (NC5) of Estonia.

The Expert Review Team (ERT) concludes that the NC5 generally provides a good overview of the national climate policy of Estonia. The information provided in the NC5 includes most of the mandatory information required by the UNFCCC reporting guidelines, except for information on policies and measures (PaMs) subdivided by greenhouse gas (GHG), the total effect of PaMs presented by GHG and the emission projections for the landuse land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) sector.

The NC5 includes most elements of the supplementary information under Article 7 of the Kyoto Protocol, except for some information on the national registry and on identification of steps taken to promote and/or implement any decisions by International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and International Martime Organization (IMO) in order to limit GHG emissions not included in the Montreal Protocol from aviation and marine bunker fuels. During the review, Estonia provided the additional information on the missing reporting elements. [Publication: In-depth review of the fifth national communication (NC5) of Estonia]
