UNFCCC Launches CDM Radio Contest in Africa

30 June 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has launched a radio contest for African radio journalists to create a radio story that answers the question: “How can my community/city/country benefit from the CDM?”

The radio contest, launched under the theme "Changing Lives," is part of the Secretariat's efforts to raise awareness about climate change issues and the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in Africa, and is open to all broadcasters and freelancers in Africa. The stories can fall into two categories: those that relate to a specific, registered CDM project; those that do not relate to a specific registered project, but which explore the potential benefits of CDM for a community/city/country. The contest is open until 10 August 2011.

Winners will be invited to take part in a two-week programme of briefings and workshop sessions at the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UNFCCC scheduled to take place in Durban, South Africa, from 28 November-9 December  2011. [The CDM Radio Contest]
