UNESCO Executive Board to Consider UNESCO Strategy for Action on Climate Change

Unesco_2The plenary sessions of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Board will convene from 7-9 and 16-17 April 2008.

The Executive Board, which brings together 58 of the 193 Member States of UNESCO, meets twice a year and is responsible for monitoring the execution of the programme adopted by the Organization's General Conference. The Board will consider issues including the Report by the Director General on a draft UNESCO Strategy for Action on Climate Change.

The Draft Strategy outlines UNESCO's current climate-related activities, its competences related to delivering information downstream, the need to focus on the human dimensions of climate change, as well as the importance of monitoring, early warning and assessments.
