UNESCAP 65th Session to Discuss Food-Fuel-Financial Crisis and Climate Change

© UNESCAPApril 2009: The 65th Session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) will convene in Bangkok, Thailand, from 23-29 April 2009. The meeting will include a report from the Committee on Disaster Reduction, the establishment of subregional offices, and a ministerial segment.

The special body on least developed and land locked developing countries will address the food-fuel-financial crisis and climate change, and associated threats to development. The ministerial session will convene under the theme “Towards sustainable agriculture and food security in the Asia-Pacific region.” This segment will address the financial crisis and its convergence with other threats to development and the need to work towards a stable and supportive financial system for development.
