UNEP Partners Release Results of Green Economy Poll
1 June 2012: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has announced the results of a survey conducted in partnership with The Regeneration Project, an initiative by SustainAbility and GlobeScan, on the potential effectiveness of a green economy.
The polls surveyed 17,000 consumers across 17 countries and 1,600 sustainable development experts from business, civil society, government and academia from 117 countries. Among the findings: 70% of consumers believe the green economy would lead to better protection of the environment; and 60% say it would be more effective at addressing climate change than the traditional economy.
The Regeneration Project aims to provide a roadmap for achieving sustainable development within the next generation, focusing in particular on ways the private sector can improve sustainability strategy, increase credibility and deliver results at greater speed and scale. UNEP is one of the supporting organizations of the Project. [UNEP Press Release] [Regeneration Project Website]
