UNEP Launches Course on Conceptualization of NAMAs
2 December 2012: The UNEP Risø Centre for Energy, Climate and Sustainable Development (URC) has launched NAMAcademy, a course programme to support policy makers from developing countries in understanding Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs), and developing NAMA policies and programmes.
NAMAcademy is offered to public sector officials from developing countries responsible for developing national or local initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The course includes: an introduction to NAMAs and low carbon development planning; tools for policy makers; financing; measuring, reporting and verifying (MRV); and opportunities for NAMAs in sectors such as energy, building and transport.
The course will be adapted to the particular interests and needs of the participants and their home countries. Training is offered for small groups or on an individual basis. The target audience includes policy makers, planners, government officials, development practitioners, and other individuals involved or interested in planning and designing NAMAS.
NAMAcademy is offered by the UNEP Risø URC in collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark. [NAMAcademy Website]
