UNEP Frankfurt School Convenes Sustainable Energy Finance Academy
November 2012: The Frankfurt School - UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Collaborating Centre for Climate and Sustainable Energy convened the Sustainable Energy Finance Summer Academy in Nairobi, Kenya, from 21-26 October 2012. This year's Academy focused on sustainable energy finance in Africa.
According to the Centre, topics covered by the Academy included: the potential for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in Africa; challenges and opportunities for successful investments in clean energy technologies; economics and dynamics of the most significant renewable energy sources; and practical examples through case studies in the region.
A total of 28 participants participated in the Academy. Senior trainers and practitioners from UNEP, the Development Bank of South Africa, and Carbon Africa Project Developers taught at the Academy. [Frankfurt School Website]
