UNEP Champion of the Earth Prince Albert II Begins Antarctic Expedition

 Prince Albert II Visits Antarctica to Assess the Effects of Global Warming 9 January 2009: Prince Albert II of Monaco has begun a month-long visit to Antarctica to assess the impact and raise awareness of climate change.

His trip includes visits to scientific outposts and with top scientists. Prince Albert won the UN Environment Programme's (UNEP) Champion of the Earth Award in 2008. He will invest in renewable energies to offset the greenhouse gas emissions from his visit. [UNEP Press Release]
