UNEP 2011 Year Book Highlights Increased Emissions in Asia and the Pacific
17 February 2011: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has released the 2011 edition of its Year Book, which includes key environmental indicators, including on carbon dioxide emissions.
The 2011 Year Book was released in advance of UNEP's Session of the Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum, convening from 21-24 February 2011, at UNEP headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. According to the Year Book, carbon dioxide emissions from solid fuel consumption are stabilizing in Europe and North America, but are increasing in Asia and the Pacific. The Year Book also concludes that the search for renewable energy is fundamental for transitioning towards a greener economy. [2011 UNEP Year Book]
