UNDP, UNITAR Hold Training on Climate Change for Zimbabwean Officials
28 September 2012: The UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Zimbabwe held a training course for Zimbabwean government officials in preparation for the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar, at the end of 2012.
The training, held from 24-28 September 2012, brought together over 40 participants, and featured presentations on: the history of climate change negotiations; decision making under the UNFCCC; and key issues in the lead up to COP 18. Participants also learnt about the priorities for Africa and Zimbabwe at COP 18. According to UNITAR, participants described the training course as “highly successful”, “very insightful” and “vital to the preparedness and empowerment of African delegations." [UNITAR Press Release]
