UNDP to Promote National Action for International Year of Sustainable Energy for All
6 January 2011: The UN has announced that, as part of 2012 being designated International Year of Sustainable Energy for All, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) will form national bodies to promote action in countries where it is active.
The International Year of Sustainable Energy for All campaign aims to: ensure every community in the world has access to modern energy sources; improve energy efficiency to combat climate change; and double the amount of renewable energy currently available in the global market. In addition to UNDP actions, the public-private Energy Access Practitioner Network will be launched and develop an integrated and strategic approach to achieving energy for all by 2030.
