UNDP Releases Updated Technology Needs Assessment Handbook

3 December 2010: The UN Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with the UNFCCC Secretariat, has released the updated version of the Handbook for Conducting Technology Needs Assessment for Climate Change.

This updated version was prepared in response to the request by the Conference of the Parties (COP) Decision 3/CP.13 and 2/CP.14 under the Expert Group on Technology. The handbook aims to assist countries by offering a systematic approach to evaluate technology options for both mitigation and adaptation, and uncovering gaps in enabling national frameworks and capacities. This updated handbook provides hands-on guidance for identifying the most effective technology options for poverty reduction and climate change mitigation and adaptation. By drawing on decades of experience and inputs from leading experts and practitioners, it aims to bring novel insights for carrying out needs assessments and creating actionable plans as part of national climate change strategies.
