UNDP Funds Climate Change Awareness Raising in Trinidad and Tobago
16 February 2012: The Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI), with funding from the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Small Grants Programme (SGP), is working in rural Trinidad and Tobago to build awareness on climate change, assist residents in identifying vulnerability to climate change, and develop plans to reduce vulnerability.
According to CANARI, the pilot project will take place over one year, and the projects outcome will contribute to a better understanding of the methods for engagement of communities in building understanding on climate change, and in taking action to address impacts on livelihood activities. CANARI plans to share the project outcomes with national, regional and international audiences. This pilot project is part of CANARI's programme of work on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) being implemented throughout the Caribbean islands. [CANARI Press Release]
