UN to Launch UN Development Assistance Framework in China

29 March 2010: The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) has announced that the UN, in cooperation with the Government of China, will launch the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for China 2011-2015, on 1 April 2010, in Beijing, China. A key overall focus area is that the Chinese Government and other stakeholders ensure environmental sustainability, address climate change, and promote a green, low carbon economy.

Additional focus areas of the UNDAF are ensuring that: the poorest and most vulnerable increasingly participate in and benefit more equitably from China's social and economic development; and China's enhanced participation in the global community brings wider mutual benefits. The period covered by this UNDAF represents the final five years before the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) deadline in 2015. This UNDAF provides a basis for the partnership between the UN in China and its national counterparts. [UNESCAP Press Release] [UNDAF Website]
