UN CC:Learn Considers Selection of Countries for Pilot Projects

8 July 2011: The Steering Group of the One UN Training Service Platform for Climate Change (UN CC:Learn) recently selected three countries from among the 25 countries that expressed an interest in the UN CC:Learn's Pilot Projects to Strengthen Human Resources, Learning and Skills Development to Address Climate Change, which aim to help countries take a strategic, long-term and results-oriented approach to climate change learning. The Group's decision in this regard will be released soon.

In addition, the meeting of the Steering Group, which was held from 7-8 July 2011, in Geneva, Switzerland, also advanced the development of joint training materials, and discussed the next steps in the preparation for the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UNFCCC, scheduled to take place in Durban, South Africa, at the end of 2011.

CC:Learn was initiated in 2009. It is a collaboration of 29 UN agencies, and seeks to offer a service platform to UN member States, UN agencies and other development parties interested in designing and delivering effective, results-oriented and sustainable learning on climate change. [CC:Learn Press Release]
