Rio Conventions Pavilion to Address Cross-Cutting Themes at UNCSD

June 2012: Occurring in parallel to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) from 13-24 June 2012, the Rio Conventions Pavilion will focus on, inter alia, indigenous peoples and local communities (ILCs), ecosystem-based adaptation, oceans, land, and financing for sustainable development.

The Pavilion's opening day will include a presentation on 20 years of the Earth Negotiations Bulletin (ENB) of the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD). The following days will address the themes: Africa and ILCs; ecosystem-based adaptation; oceans; land; business; financing sustainable development; gender mainstreaming; the 20th Anniversary of the Rio Conventions; and cities.

The Pavilion is a collaborative outreach activity of the Secretariats of the Rio Conventions (namely the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)), the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and 25 other international, national and local partners.
