Rio Conventions Outline Synergies and Linkages on Forests

June 2012: On the sidelines to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) launched a joint brochure outlining the activities under the three Conventions to save and restore the world's forests.

The information brochure, titled "The Rio Conventions: Action on Forests," provides a snapshot of the synergies and linkages with respect to forests between combating climate change and desertification and the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. It outlines the three Conventions' mandates and action programmes regarding forests, highlights some success stories and results achieved, and explains remaining challenges to implementation and the opportunities for relevant stakeholders to contribute.
