3 June 2011: The report of the 61st meeting of the Executive Board of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), which convened from 30 May-3 June 2011, in Bonn, Germany, is now available on the CDM website.

At the meeting, the Board considered matters relating to the operation of the CDM, including issues relating to: small-scale CDM project activities; the CDM programme of activities; the registration of CDM project activities; the CDM management plan and the resources for the work on the CDM; regional and sub-regional distribution and capacity building; relations with designated operational and applicant entities; and relationship with stakeholders, and intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Regarding methodologies for baselines and monitoring plans, based on a report by the Methodologies Panel, the Board agreed to approve two new methodologies: “energy efficiency technologies and fuel switching in new buildings;” and “N2O abatement from nitric acid production.” The Board agreed not to approve the proposed methodology “PFC emission reduction by gas replacement in the process of CVD cleaning in semiconductor production.” The Board also considered requests for clarification of, and revisions to, approved methodologies.

On issues relating to CDM afforestation and reforestation (A/R) project activities, the Board approved the new A/R methodology “Afforestation and reforestation of degraded mangrove habitats.” It also requested the A/R Working Group to develop for consideration at its 63rd meeting, a list of types and extent of changes from the project description in the registered project design documents that are considered typical in forestry practice and do not therefore require submitting a notification or a request for approval under the relevant procedures.

The Board's report, together with the various annexes resulting from the meeting, is available on the CDM website. [CDM EB61 Report]
