REEEP South East Asia and Pacific Newsletter Highlights Renewable Energy Projects and Publications

March 2012: The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) has published the March issue of its South East Asia and Pacific Newsletter, with news on renewable energy financing, project and policy developments, and upcoming events in the region.

The newsletter features articles on, inter alia: a Cambodian energy poverty project, which will upgrade two mini-grids to hybrid diesel-renewable energy systems; Tonga's first renewable power station; the availability of solar home systems to unelectrified rural households in the Solomon Islands; Fiji's Renewable Energy Loans Ratio, which requires banks to hold 2% of their deposits in loans to the renewable energy sector; the Bureau of the Alliance of Small Island States' (AOSIS) attention to climate change mitigation and adaptation; the publication of the "Global Solar and Wind Atlas Strategy" by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Clean Energy Ministerial; a World Bank workshop discussing renewable energy deployment and energy efficiency, with a specific focus on feed-in tariffs; the publication of the 2011 World Climate Summit report, which identified pathways for green growth; and the public consultation on the Gold Standard's rules revision.
