PROVIA Invites Comments on Global Research Priorities
30 April 2012: The Programme of Research on Climate Change Vulnerability, Impacts and Adaptation (PROVIA), a joint UN initiative, has announced it has released a draft headline listing of global research priorities in vulnerability, impacts and adaptation (VIA).
According to PROVIA, the purpose of the list is to identify the major gaps in VIA knowledge and communicate these through a dialogue with the research and policy communities. The 32 research topics include areas related to: advancing vulnerability and adaptation solutions; improved cost-benefit estimates; enhancing communication and stakeholder engagement; natural resources; human well-being; critical geographic areas; and emerging topics.
This activity is carried out implemented in partnership with Columbia University. Comments on the list are to be received by 15 May 2012.
PROVIA was launched in September 2011 by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). [PROVIA Website] [PROVIA Webpage on Research Priorities]
