OLADE Supports Belize, Guyana and Suriname in Creating Energy Information Systems

9 September 2011: In recent months, the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) has assisted the Governments of Belize, Guyana and Suriname in automating the collection, processing and dissemination of key energy indicators, and in preparing their national energy balances and national greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories for 2010.

In each of the three countries, OLADE helped set up a National Energy Information System (SIEN), form a preliminary national energy information committee, prepare a national energy balance and GHG inventory, and draft an action plan to meet energy information objectives and goals set by national energy specialists. These deliverables were provided at national training workshops held by OLADE in each country, namely 11-15 July 2011 in Guyana, 25-29 July 2011 in Belize, and 29 August-2 September 2011 in Suriname.

The online versions of the SIENs will be officially launched on 24 October 2011 for Belize, 7 November 2011 for Guyana, and 5 March 2012 for Suriname. [OLADE Press Release]
