OECD Environmental Review of Finland Recommends GHG Emissions Reductions

© OECD5 June 2009: The Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has published an “Environmental Performance Review of Finland,” which notes that in 2006 Finland's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions had increased by 13% compared to 1990 levels, well above the country's Kyoto commitment of 0%.

The report's conclusions and recommendations also highlight that the carbon dioxide emission per unit of GDP and the energy intensity of Finland are high among OECD countries, and recommends that Finland reinforce its environmental efforts, particularly by further strengthening green tax initiatives and promoting eco-innovation.
